About Maya
I discovered Shiatsu in my late 20’s. Having received a great deal of acupuncture I became fascinated with Oriental Medicine and it’s holistic approach to health. I found that in a treatment it wasn’t just my physical symptoms being addressed but also psychological, spiritual and emotional aspects of myself were showing up. After a course of Shiatsu treatments I experienced first hand what is is to be held and supported through touch and I found that transformational.
I completed my training at The British School of Shiatsu-Do in London in 2004 and since then Shiatsu has been an integral part of my life not only in terms of how I earn a living but also in my life choices, how I live. Having Shiatsu as a practice is a continually unfolding process: I am still learning from both my teachers and clients. It is such a pleasure to share this work and to bring it’s benefits to others.
Shin Tai
Over the years I have further developed my work with training in Shin Tai, a form of body work evolving out of Shiatsu created by Saul Goodman. Shin Tai translates as “source body”.
In Saul’s words, Shin tai “views healing not only as recovery from problems and deficits but also an event that keeps a person in sync with their growth, development and evolution”.
This work is integrated into my practice and I have found it to be very powerful in shifting stubborn issues. It also allows me to offer gentle protocols to correct structural imbalances in the spine, pelvis and sacrum, thus making it extremely safe and gentle for all bodies.
To date, I am the only Shin Tai practitioner in Norfolk.

“I have been receiving Shiatsu treatment for many years; it has always been beneficial in helping maintain chronic problems in my physical structure, and rebalanced my general health on many occasions. Maya’s gentle, yet firm, treatment approach is invariably empathetic and insightful. Her deft and sensitive touch always seems to go right to the heart of the problem, freeing and reconnecting areas of dysfunction.
Maya often supports her hands on therapy with insightful advice which allows the healing process to continue long after the treatment session. My Shiatsu treatments have always been both enjoyable and therapeutic, improving my specific problems but also my whole feeling of wellbeing.”
